Production report and reorder alerts
See what you produced and what it cost over any period, and find the items whose stock has fallen to their reorder level.
The Production Report shows every production run in a date range, with totals for the finished goods made and the raw materials used. Reorder Alerts lists the items that need restocking.
Before you start
- Switch on manufacturing in Configuration. Both screens are in the Manufacturing menu, which appears only when it is on.
- For reorder alerts, set a Reorder level on each item you want to watch in Products. See Set up manufacturing and Bills of Materials.
View the production report
- Open Manufacturing > Production Report. It opens with the last 30 days.
- Change From and To to the period you want.
- Click Run.
The report shows:
- Three cards at the top: PRODUCTION RUNS (number of runs), FINISHED GOODS (total units produced) and TOTAL COST (cost of raw materials used).
- Finished goods produced — each product made, with the number of Runs, the Qty and the Cost.
- Raw materials consumed — each material used, with its total Qty and Cost.
- Runs by day — every run, grouped by date with the newest day first. Each day's row shows that day's total cost.
Click a Production # to see the raw materials that run used. Reversed productions are not included.
Export the report to Excel
- Run the report for the period you want.
- Click the download icon (Export Excel) next to Run.
The file has three sheets: Runs, Finished Goods and Raw Materials. The icon is grey when the period has no production.
Check reorder alerts
- Open Manufacturing > Reorder Alerts.
- Read the list. Each row shows the Item, its Type, the stock In stock, its Reorder level and Order at least.
- Restock the items, for example with a purchase entry or by recording a production.
- Click the refresh icon to check the list again.
An item appears here when its stock is at or below its reorder level. Order at least is the reorder level minus the current stock. Items with the biggest gap are listed first. The In stock figure is red when stock is zero or less, and orange otherwise.
If no item needs restocking, the screen shows All stocked up.
Fields
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Unit cost | Cost of one unit of finished goods in that run, from the raw materials used at FIFO cost. |
| Total cost | Total raw-material cost of the run. |
| In stock | On the reorder screen, the item's total stock from all entries, including any dated in the future. |
| Reorder level | The level set on the item in Products. |
Common problems
- No production in this period — no runs fall between From and To. Widen the dates and click Run.
- Report did not change after I changed the dates — click Run. The report does not refresh by itself.
- An item is missing from reorder alerts — it has no Reorder level, or its stock is still above it. The Reorder level field shows on the product form only when manufacturing is on, and not for service items.
- Manufacturing module is not enabled — switch manufacturing on in Configuration.
