Check the audit log
See who added, changed or deleted records in your books, and when, from the audit log.
The audit log records changes made in your books: what was added, changed or deleted, by which user, and when. Only the business owner sees this screen.
Before you start
- The log fills in as people work. You do not need to switch anything on to see it.
- The User column shows a user number, not a name. Match it with the people on Users and permissions.
Steps
- Open Administration > Audit Logs.
- The latest 100 entries load, newest first.
- To see one kind of change, pick INSERT (added), UPDATE (changed) or DELETE (deleted) in the All Actions list.
- To see one kind of record, type its table name in the Table name box. Type it exactly, in small letters, for example
sales_invoices,purchase_invoices,vouchers,customers,suppliersorproducts. - Click Search.
Columns
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Time | When the change was made. |
| User | The number of the user who made it. |
| Actions | INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE. An import shows IMPORT. |
| Table name | The kind of record changed. |
| Record | The record's number. 0 means many records at once, for example an import or a bulk delete. |
| Path | The screen action that made the change. |
Common problems
- No audit logs found. — nothing matches your search. Clear the Table name box, choose All Actions and click Search.
- The table name returns nothing — the name must match exactly. Use the small-letter names shown above, not the example in the box.
- Older entries are missing — the screen shows only the latest 100 entries for your search. Narrow it with Table name and an action to find older ones.
